May the Light of Freedom Consume us with Yankee Doodle Attitude and Joy

Wasn't it Mark Twain who delighted in New World innocence rather than lust after Old World jaded guilt?  But of course the challenge for America is to temper innocence with the wisdom of love and hearts of compassion.  We will send the devil packing only by full engagement in the disciplines of democracy and equality,

Then, as WB Yeates wrote (Among School Children}:

VIII

Labour is blossoming or dancing where
The body is not bruised to pleasure soul,
Nor beauty born out of its own despair,
Nor blear-eyed wisdom out of midnight oil.
O chestnut tree, great rooted blossomer,
Are you the leaf, the blossom or the bole?
O body swayed to music, O brightening glance,
How can we know the dancer from the dance?
