Gospel Roots

How did the Lord open your heart to respond to the Gospel? Who did he use as part of the process? (Serendipity Bible 1998, page 1545).

It is of course quite impossible to trace all the threads of influence upon one's life.  Often those people we tend to take for granted--family members or local church congregations--have had essential critical impact.  I have often mentioned Allan J. Burry as the college chaplain that convinced me that the Gospel was not primarily just for the provinces, but for all people everywhere--even for those privileged with stellar education, power, or wealth--those always seen as way outside my ken.  Yet it is clear to me that considering the multitude of value options that are presented to us daily, it is only by the grace of God that my heart was opened to respond to the Gospel.  When all is said and done, we have only so much control over our perception, and the rest lies subliminal or is convolutedly complex and/or inspired.
