I think Martin would be the first to admit that the way was partially prepared for the Civil Rights Movement in the United States because of countless Vacation Bible Schools throughout the South and in other areas teaching very young children a simple and catchy tune. I personally was raised in the Deep South and in a small rural town no doubt in many ways immersed in racism, we even so were taught to sing for our parents "Jesus Loves the Little Children"...thus implanting lasting etchings in our hearts.
