During my high school and undergraduate years, I was often "going through the motions." Trite as it may sound, I had to "find myself." I had no set identity to assert or to incite inner passion. Self-identity formation is far from merely a mental exercise. As in understanding IQ, we dare not preemptively delimit the multifarious nature of it. Unfortunately for adherents of robotic efficiency, the development of human identity can be messy and replete with false starts and failures. Yet, even these frustrating imperfections can lead to our eventual self-confidence, stamina, adaptability, and survival.
